Help support direct access to physical therapy in California by SIGNING THIS PETITION!  It just takes a minute. 

Overview from California Physical Therapy Association: Consumers should have the choice to go directly to a physical therapist for treatment. Did you know that current law requires any person in California seeking treatment from a physical therapist to first visit a medical doctor for a referral? The current barrier to access is caused solely by a 44-year old Attorney General’s opinion. California law does not state that a diagnosis is needed from a physician in order to begin treatment by a physical therapist.

Consumer direct access to physical therapy would ensure that patients could see a physical therapist directly for the treatment of movement related conditions. Direct Access would help streamline health care delivery in California. Patients would no longer have to endure painful delays and expense in order to receive treatment from their physical therapist. Patients who suffer from chronic and recurring injuries, senior citizens, and low income individuals would greatly benefit from the passage of SB 924.
